Our Initiatives

Pamela Campbell-Morris Health Awareness Alliance

Our Health Awareness Alliance is a compassionate organisation encouraging us all to invest in our Health and Wellbeing. Originally spearheaded by Pamela Campbell-Morris, her tireless work broke through societal reservations in discussing health and championed for Ethnic Health Research.

In Pamela's memory

Pamela Campbell-Morris was a special person to everyone at Highfield Rangers. Over the years she served our community as a Leader, Facilitator and Entertainer.

In everything she did, she brought enthusiasm and a will to succeed. She also brought the importance of health to the forefront of our community, encouraging people to take steps to improve their own health outcomes.

In honour of Pamela’s legacy, we want to pay tribute to her work and continue it in our own way.

Who we are

Highfield Rangers created the Pamela Campbell-Morris Health Awareness Alliance (PCMHAA) in 2024. Our main goal is to improve the health and wellbeing of the African and African Caribbean communities in Leicester and Leicestershire, and to challenge health inequalities.

We work with health professionals, including those connected to the three universities in Leicestershire. Our focus includes, but is not limited to, Prostate Cancer, Sickle Cell, Mental Health and Diabetes.

Our key aims

  • To improve the health and wellbeing of people and their families, particularly in the African and African
  • Caribbean communities in Leicester and Leicestershire
    To challenge health inequalities

Our purpose

  • Funding: to identify funding opportunities for health and social care research, innovation and service transformation
  • Partnership: to be an equal partner in shaping participatory research, including identifying research questions, design and priority setting, governance, delivering research activities together, sharing key findings and exchanging knowledge
  • Community involvement: to actively involve the people being researched, who may take action to bring about social change and improve their own context
  • Awareness: to keep raising awareness of health issues, encourage self-determination and empower the community to become self-sustaining, through materials, networking, information sharing, bite-size training and more
